My mom started smocking about 10 years ago. She has created over forty smocked dresses for us and our friends and relatives. But smocked & heirloom dresses are not so practical for everyday wear for little girls so my mom turned her talents to dressing dolls who aren't so fussy and keep their dresses clean. In 2012, my mom-who loves Jane Austen and the Regency Period--started making Regency clothing for American Girl Dolls. In December of 2013 when we discovered the most beautiful Little Darling dolls created by Dianna Effner. Since then, we have other added other dolls to our collection and also design clothing for them-- including Boneka, Kish, Iplehouse, Patsy & Kaye Wiggs.
All of us, my mom, older sister and I work together to make the amazing masterpieces for these beautiful dolls. We all have our own unique styles and work together to create each outfit. My mom is an expert of bullion embroidery, smocking and heirloom sewing. She is very talented and has the
most wonderful ideas. My older sister can embroider as well as my mom can and sews very well too. She just loves to embroider and tends to smother the clothes with embroidery. She also makes all the tights, thigh-highs and most of the time makes the petticoats. I make most of the accessories like the hats, bouquets, hair pieces, bears and bunnies but I also love to smock. ---Nikita
